Truck Manufacturers - Peterbilt
A Leading Green Truck Manufacturer

Founded in 1939, Peterbilt is one of North America's leading truck
manufacturers, combining premium quality with custom manufacturing
to produce long-lasting, reliable trucks designed to meet the
specific needs and challenges of their customers. Offering the
widest array of efficient, environmentally friendly vehicles on the
road today, Peterbilt has established itself as the leading
manufacturer of natural gas trucks.
Wide Natural Gas Selection
Peterbilt recognizes responsibility as a global citizen to limit
the impact on the environment, and is pro-actively developing
environmentally-sound natural gas systems for on-highway and
vocational trucks. Partnered with Cummins Westport and Westport HD,
Peterbilt's family of alternative fuel vehicles forms the
industry's most comprehensive, high performing, fuel efficient, and
environmentally responsible line-up.
Powered by liquefied natural gas
(LNG), Peterbilt's Model 367 LNG, ideal for vocational
applications, and Model 386 LNG, ideal for line, bulk, and tanker
hauling, are both equipped with the Westport HD GX engine and offer
up to 475 horsepower and 1,750 lbs-ft of torque. The 15-litre
engine uses high pressure direct injection technology (HPDI),
specialized cryogenic fuel tanks, and associated electronic
components to facilitate robust performance and reliable operation.
This technology uses a low cost, cleaner-burning fuel than diesel
without compromising engine torque, power, fuel economy, or
drivability, in addition to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 25
percent.
Peterbilt Models 320, 365 and 384 are equipped with the Cummins
Westport ISL G engine, and can be coupled with either compressed
natural gas (CNG) or LNG fuel systems. With ratings up to 320
horsepower and 1,000 lb-ft of torque, ISL G-powered trucks provide
optimal performance for short-haul, regional, refuse and dump
applications.
Meeting Fleet Demands for Natural Gas
If recent orders are
any indication of the demand of natural gas vehicles, then
Peterbilt is right to promote the use of natural gas trucks. In
October 2010, Peterbilt received an order from Boucherville,
Québec-based Robert Transport for 180 LNG trucks, Models 386 and
367. Robert Transport is one of Canada's leading for-hire trucking
companies with operations in eastern Canada and in the United
States.
In January 2011, Peterbilt received an order for 50 Model 386
LNG trucks from Vedder Transport, a company based in Abbotsford,
British Columbia. Vedder Transport specializes in the distribution
of food-grade products in bulk, liquid or dry state in Western
Canada and the United States, and stated Peterbilt's 386 Model LNG
trucks were the ideal green and fuel efficient solution for the
fleet's delivery services.

In April 2011, Peterbilt announced an order for 200 LNG Model
367 trucks from American water solutions company Heckmann
Corporation, who wished to transition its tractor-trailer fleet
from traditional diesel vehicles to natural gas vehicles. Once in
service, the LNG trucks will be used to service its customers'
natural gas well operations.
With more than 250 dealer locations in Canada and the United
States, Peterbilt provides best in class service and support for
natural gas trucks.
